Now Everyone Can Go to University

By Christopher Chen

The Internet has opened many opportunities for people. Everything is possible with the Internet and this includes studying for a degree or some other qualification.

There are practical reasons for this as the Internet makes it possible to cut out traveling, accommodation and phone costs.

This helps many dispel the fear of rising cost of going to university .More than merely the debt arising from what you borrowed and the interest imposed you can also have other benefits that a normal course of study would not have.

Having the money to go to University is one thing and there is the problem of having the time to do so. For example you have other obligations to fulfill at that time. You might be at a point when you have to build your career. Or your wife is having a baby. All these will make it difficult to go to University.

There is a way out -the Internet. The Internet in its widest sense has all the facilities for you to study at home. You will have VOIP as in Skype, video-conferencing and blogging. Add to all these the fact that with the computer you can do your research with just a click by surfing then you have indeed a valuable machine. Even the radio and newspapers are now online!

Online degree courses are just as good as normal university study. The accredited online universities issue qualifications that are the same in status as those for onsite study. Technological advances now afford online university students to experience truly interactive lectures and debates not merely reading from the internet. These are all available: class discussions; recorded or live lectures. Furthermore online classes tend to be small so you have a better student-lecturer ratio.

You can talk to your lecturers, fellow students and not just from your country but all countries so you can get a wide array of opinions. This is real cool and I for one am sold on the Internet and the computer as a valuable ally.

Realising this, good universities have teamed up with online universities to offer flexible degree courses. One such is Essex University. There are others and you should check out kaplanopenlearning.org.uk. Many universities now have online tutorials or lectures for students who are not able to attend classes because of illness for example.

The cost of online study is so drastically lower than that of attending a campus that learning is open to all.

Now everyone can go to uni!
