Nursing Degree Still a Great Choice For Students

By Alice Lane

As the economy is taking a downturn, many people of all ages are worried about their jobs. Whether it's keeping their existing job or finding a new one, the uncertainty in financial markets coupled with rising fuel and food prices is making a lot of people nervous about the money they have coming in the door. Thankfully, for those in the nursing industry, their jobs are always in demand. People will always get sick and need care to get them up and moving again. That's why many students across the nation are opting against business suits and dreaming instead about stretch fabric scrubs. It's really no different than any other era. Nursing has been popular for a long time, and it will continue to be a popular profession for many years to come.

But before you start paging through scrub catalogs to pick out the exact pattern you want to wear your first day on the job, it's important to know there are several steps you must go through first. Of course, you'll want to find the right school for you and what kind of nurse you'd like to become. There's a Licensed Practical Nurse, a Registered Nurse, and a Bachelor's in Nursing. These paths require different amounts and types of training, and will likely pay more or less. You also may be doing more or less complex work depending on what path you choose. Really it's figuring out what sort of path you'd like to go down, then choosing the right schooling for that path. Sitting down and talking with someone in the industry or a nursing career counselor may help you along with your decision.

Another consideration when thinking about your nursing career is where you will go to obtain your schooling. Again, you probably shouldn't be worried about whether or not you'll fit into scrubs unisex tall or regular size. Now is the time for a serious dedication to your studies and learning what your new life as a nurse will entail. Many nursing programs are extremely competitive, accepting only the finest students with the best track records. So while learning the material is extremely important, so is getting a good grade and scoring well on exams. Another thing to think about is how close the school is to your home. If you choose to attend a nursing program at a school right down the road, it may be more convenient for you to study because you don't have to waste potential study time in the car. Think about this before you enroll, and you'll remove a potential obstacle to your new life!

At Scrubs and Beyond, we can't help you pass your nursing boards, but with our great selection of stretch fabric scrubs, we can certainly help you look great! Check out our scrub catalogs, or go online to see the latest scrubs unisex tall styles!
